Christian Develter was born in 1968 in Ostend, Belgium, but
presently lives and works in Asia. He gets inspiration for
his paintings from impressions and experiences in Asia, and
each canvas emanates layers of turbulence with impeccable style
and sensuality. His approach is highly emotional and the result
is a visual feast of colours and life, reflecting and respecting
Asian sensibilities.
Under the modish comtemporary facade of Christian`s work lies
a classical working approach, re-utilizing traditional painting
techniques used by the Flemish masters, thereby continuing an
ancient tradition but in new, daring and innovative ways.
Christian’s uniqueness lies in his radical choice of strong
colours and his mixture of oils and acrylics, usually preferring
to combine them with bold shapes. His works are deeply powerful
and compelling in the way they capture light and space, translating
his desire to create large paintings.
