MOVEMENT 8 is a design alliance formed by Philippino designer Antonio 'Budji' Layug and government trade official Eli Ointo-Mansor in 1999. Budji is also the founder of Budji Living based in Bangkok. The Movement 8 consortium brings together the Philippines' most innovative designers with a common sensibility: clean lines, simple geometric forms and the warm texture of natural materials. Their work is a mixture of rich heritage and traditional craftsmanship as well as contemporary needs and sensibilities. Their commitment to using indigenous materials - bamboo, wicker, wood, abaca, leather is continually seen in their designs that feature art as much as function.
