Miguel was born in Bangkok, Thailand in 1969 of Vietnamese and Philippino parents. Educated in Thailand, Malaysia and Belgium, she gravitated towards the arts and design, and in 2002 was accredited as a Gemologist by the Asian Institute of Gemological Sciences, Bangkok.
Since 1999, she has been building her own business, focusing on the design and production of fashion jewellery and accessories, and today she works with exclusive spas and designer boutiques in Thailand, Vietnam and Japan and caters to individual clients across the world, many of whom are celebrities. Miguel’s atelier and her specially designed showroom – ‘La Salle de Miguel’ are to be found in Bangkok.
Miguel is particularly fascinated by the variety and subtlety of colours and imperfections to be found in all types of gemstones. Her dramatic designs also artfully combine other textures such as leather, wood, bamboo, fishskin and feathers to complete her intriguing creations.
La Luna Gallery is featuring a special collection made for them by Miguel, the colours and textures of her creations – necklaces, bracelets, earrings, bags and keyrings – evocative of the moon and the night sky.
