Born in Isaan but living in Chiang Mai, artist Wattanapong
Yothaitiang draws his inspiration from the cultural icons
of the Northern Capital.
His oil-paintings, prints, mini-prints and photographs often
contains symbols of religion or otherwise symbols of the rich
cultural life in the region. There are links to the traditional
lanna-style in the choosing of subjects, but the style is
modern and unique for Wattanapong.
In La Luna Gallery Khun Wattanapong will exhibit paintings
and prints with the famous Doi Suthep interpreted in different
ways.
”My concept of creating my own artwork is like the
recording of one`s life traveling. The story and the beauty
and the impression in my life has influenced my art. I`m not
insisting on any type of technique used for each work. Each
one requires different technique som that it can transfer
the conception, emotion and feeling to the stories I experienced.
Now working as a free-lance artist, WattanapongYothaitiang
graduated from Rajamangala Institute in 2001. He has taken
part in a number of exhibition both as a student and a graduate.
