Artists:

Vu Viet Hung was born in Ha Tay in Vietnam in 1968. He graduated in 1994 from Hanoi Industrial Fine Art College and has within the past few years emerged as one of Vietnams well-known and much liked artists.

Most famous are his oil paintings, often on big canvasses although he also makes medium and small size paintings.

His inspiration comes from village life, working or resting in the paddy-fields, chatting at the market. His style is simple, strong and warmly coloured canvasses depicting a few people, a buffalo or perhaps a few things from the market place. It is the connection between the few persons and items and their position on the canvas, which makes Vu Viet Hungs paintings so interesting, enjoyable – and real.

Vu Viet Hung is also experimenting with other media, i.e. the old Vietnamese tradition of lacquer-paintings as well as gouaches on cheesecloths.

The artist is displaying his paintings at an increasing number of Hanois art galleries.
