Therdkiat Wangwarcharakul was born in 1971 and graduated with
a Master Degree in painting from Silapakorn University in 2003.
He paints with oil on aluminum sheets, and the unusual use of
this material contributes to creating a somewhat rustic or deprived
atmosphere to his works. His paintings often focus on life as
a constant struggle for poor people in the city.
No objects are useless in the settings - leftovers from the
middle class are being recycled and the stray dogs become devoted
companions. The use of aluminum sheets as a medium, which is
a material that is recycled by garbage collectors in the city,
contributes to a kind of real-life experience to his paintings.
Therdkiat has participated in several exhibitions in Thailand,
and also in Singapore (2001), Japan (2001), the Netherlands
(2002) and Korea (2003). He was awarded the Jurors' Choice Prize
in the ASEAN Art Awards 2000 and won the second prize at the
national art competition in Thailand in 2002
