Sarawut (Da) was born in Nakonrachasima in 1979 and graduated from Chiang Mai University, Faculty of Fine Arts (Department of Sculpture and Painting) with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2003. He is presently continuing his studies and working towards a Masters Degree in the visual arts programme.
He is particularly interested in the techniques of ceramics in sculpture and in using these techniques to create pieces of art.
For his beautifully crafted and humourous ceramic figures, he finds his inspiration from watching others observe and comment on his own artworks. Always dressed impeccably in business suits, the character and emotion, the cynicism or quiet aggression of each persona shows through in the heads, sculpted variously as lions, crocodiles, rhinoceros or komodo dragons. He says of his pieces, “They should always be shown facing a piece of art so that their stance, their intent and their attitude are apparent.”
