Kyee Myintt Saw was born in Yangon, Myanmar in 1939, and is a graduate with an M.Sc. in Mathematics as well as having been a faculty member of the Yangon University of Arts and Sciences and the Institute of Economics until his retirement. He was the President of the Art Committee of the Institute of Economics some 20 times between 1973 and 1998.
His paintings are alive with mobility, and sparkle with the various hues typical of Myanmar colours under the tropical sun. His preferred subject is the market with the blaze of lights at night, or in the early morning sun. He deftly catches the bustling mood of the market scenes, and you can feel a sense of exuberance tempered by the hidden depths of loneliness in each person.
Kyee Myintt Saw has participated in over 70 group shows within Myanmar and has had two solo shows in Yangon in 1999 and 2005. He has also exhibited in China, Japan, Indonesia, Thailand and Singapore. He received an award for participation in the Philip Morris Myanmar Art Awards 2001/2002.
