A lawyer by profession, but an artist at heart, Htay Myint was born in 1957 in Kawlin Township in Upper Myanmar. From early childhood Htay Myint loved to sketch and paint, and from as early as the age of nine onwards he studied under the master artists U Thu Kha, U Lin Kywe and U Thein Han.
Htay Myint's preferred medium is water colour, usually featuring pastoral scenes and village life. More recently however, he has further developed his techniques to include acrylics on both paper and canvas. La Luna Gallery is presenting some of his newest works featuring very detailed and colourful scenes of village and monastic life.
Htay Myint has participated in many Art Exhibitions and group shows in Myanmar, and in 2000 he had a solo exhibition at the Inya Lake Hotel in Yangon.
