Born in 1969, Ho Nam studied interior design in Moscow and graduated with a Masters Degree in Art Criticism in 1995. He now teaches this subject at Hanoi's Industrial Fine Arts University. Ho Nam is Member of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association and a member of the Executive Committee of the 'Your Art Club'. He was awarded the Second prize of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association in 2003 and more recently won a Prize at the Vietnam Design Exhibition in 2004.

Ho Nam began painting seriously in 1996, and for him it is clearly important to be able to capture and portray the atmosphere of the scene he is painting. His subjects range from people who live in mountainous areas to flowers and landscapes.

"I try to bring people to the places I go through my paintings," he says. "I like to keep the colours true to reality. When you see a painting I did of Sapa for example, I want you to feel the mood of that particular place," he adds.
